The Iron and Golden King | Czech Republic

This postcard was sent by Eva and Martin from Prague via Postcrossing [CZ 723885].

It is postmarked in 19 October 2015 from Praha, Czech Republic. I really like these stamps. The first one depicts the sign of Aquarius. The second one depicts Ottokar II (Czech: Přemysl Otakar II; c. 1233 – 26 August 1278), the Iron and Golden King, who was a member of the Přemyslid dynasty who reigned as King of Bohemia from 1253 until 1278. He also held the titles of Duke of Austria from 1251, Duke of Styria from 1260, as well as Duke of Carinthia and Margrave of Carniola from 1269.

With Ottokar's rule, the Přemyslids reached the peak of their power in the Holy Roman Empire. His expectations of imperial crown, however, were never fulfilled. [wikipedia]

White Nights in Tallinn | Estonia

This beautiful card of Tallinn was sent by Ella via postcrossing [EE-98433]. She lives there with her family. She tells me that on the card we can see the old town of Tallinn, which is an Unesco World Heritage Site,  in White Nights. "In June we have White Nights. It is not dark in night: on the card you can see the darkest time (you can read newspaper without extra light)."
Sounds like an incredible experience! I hope I will see it for myself someday :)

Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church

Another postcard of Protestant Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church (in German: Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche, but mostly just known as Gedächtniskirche), sent by Florian via postcrossing [DE-855510]. As Florian writes "the original memorial church was damaged in the WWII. After the war the ruin was conserved as a memorial against the war and a new part was built."

The lipstick and the powder box

I bought these postcards a few years ago on my trip to Berlin along with the one that shows only the old, destroyed church. It is truly a unique sight. If I remember correctly, Berliners call it "broken tooth". The church is located at the Breitscheidplatz, the center of former West-Berlin. It is still the commercial center of Berlin, with the Kurfürstendamm shopping street and Europa Center near by.

The Protestant Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church (in German: Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche, but mostly just known as Gedächtniskirche) is located in Berlin on the Kurfürstendamm in the center of the Breitscheidplatz. The original church on the site was built in the 1890s. It was badly damaged in a bombing raid in 1943. The present building, which consists of a church with an attached foyer and a separate belfry with an attached chapel, was built between 1959 and 1963. The damaged spire of the old church has been retained and its ground floor has been made into a memorial hall.

Frozen Novosibirsk | Russia

This beautiful nightview of Novosibirsk in Russia was sent to me by my postcardpal Valerie :) The last card I sent her was from Metsovo and I was writing to her that it was really cold because it was -2C. She writes me back that she laughed with that because at that time it was -38C at Novosibirsk!! I cannot even imagine how they can live at so low temperatures!!!!

Novosibirsk (Russian: Новосиби́рск) is Russia's third-largest city, after Moscow and Saint Petersburg, and the largest city of Siberia with a population of 1.4 million (2010). It is the administrative center of Novosibirsk Oblast as well as of the Siberian Federal District. The city is located in the south-western portion of the federal district and occupies an area of 477.2 square kilometres (184.2 sq mi).

Speicherstadt

This postcard was sent to me by Ingo from Germany via postcrossing [DE-792099]. It is a nightview of Speicherstadt [the old warehouse district] in Hamburg.

The Speicherstadt (lit. city of warehouses, meaning warehouse district) in Hamburg, Germany is the world-largest timber-pile founded warehouse district of the world. It is located in the port of Hamburg - within the HafenCity quarter - and was built from 1883 to 1927. The district was built as a free zone to transfer goods without paying customs. As of 2009 the district and the surrounding area is under redevelopment.

Brisbane, Queensland

A friend moved recently to Brisbane, Australia, and sent me this amazing postcard! It really looks breathtaking and [combined with the photos I've seen] is one of the places I would love to visit someday :)

It may be Australia’s third-largest city, but for the longest time Brisbane was seen as something of a poor cousin to Sydney and Melbourne: a sleepy country town hiding behind a big city façade. In recent years, however, Brisbane has stirred from its slumber and is casually emerging as one of the most desirable places to live in Australia with an estimated 1000 people packing their bags and moving up here every week.

Pohjoisesplanadi

An Helsinki card sent by dotdotpc from Finland via postcrossing [FI-972547]. It shows Pohjoisesplanadi and the Market Square.

In the heart of Helsinki, the capital of Finland, the two streets constituting Esplanadi (Swedish: Esplanaden) are officially named Pohjoisesplanadi (Finnish for the North Esplanade Street, Swedish: Norra Esplanaden) and Eteläesplanadi (Finnish for the South Esplanade street, Swedish: Södra Esplanaden). They lead from Erottaja Square to the Market Square (Kauppatori), and the North Esplanade Street extends along the border of the Market Square up to the Katajanokka Channel. Esplanadi is colloquially called "Espa".

Disneyland, Paris

I received this one a few days ago. Some friends were in Paris for their honeymoon [ :) ] and they sent it to me!
