This postcard has beautiful colours. It shows the Agra Fort, which is a historical fort in the city of Agra in India. It was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty till 1638, when Mughal capital was shifted from Agra to Red Fort in Delhi. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site and is about 2.5 km northwest of its more famous sister monument, the Taj Mahal. The fort can be more accurately described as a walled city.
This powerful fortress of
red sandstone encompasses, within its 2.5-km-long enclosure walls, the
imperial city of the Mughal rulers. It comprises many fairy-tale
palaces, such as the Jahangir Palace and the Khas Mahal, built by Shah
Jahan; audience halls, such as the Diwan-i-Khas; and two very beautiful
mosques.
The card was posted on 17 April 1957 from Bombay. 2 stamps of 20 N.P. each were used. The stamps show the map of India. The card is written in [I think] German and unfortunately I don't know German.
